Mobile Integration Oversight Cybersecurity Engineer

Key Role:

Support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program as the Mobile Integration Oversight Cybersecurity Engineer. Support the EHRM program with a specific focus on the cybersecurity elements around medical device and mobile integration to the new EHR, related to devices such as CareAware, Zebra, and PowerChart Touch. Act as key resource to help identify potential issues and risks with the authority to connect and operate (ATC/ATO) of medical devices to the secure joint enclave. Provide technical strategies and guidance for implementation of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to support VA Authority to Operate and Authority to Connect activities with the Department of Defense (DoD). Provide evaluations in the form of technical guidance, white papers, and strategy briefs on cyber security tools, network topologies to senior leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience with working in a professional environment
  • Experience in all aspects of cyber security, including IT systems involving end user and enterprise level networks
  • Experience with documenting a mobile solution under the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to obtain an agency-level ATO/ATC
  • Experience in designing and implementing systems that meet agency cyber security policy and regulations
  • Experience in cybersecurity and engineering of mobile technologies, systems and applications used in a healthcare setting
  • Experience in cyber security tools, network topologies, intrusion detection, PKI, and secured networks
  • Ability to understand the Joint VA-DoD MedCOI security construct and the implementation of MedMod for medical device security, to enable troubleshooting of implementation, and potential re-engineering of designs and architectures
  • MA or MS degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Engineering, Science, or Technology required

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with CareAware, Zebra, and/or PowerChart Touch
  • Experience with HL7 FHIR, C-CDA or Direct Messaging
  • Knowledge of the DHS PPSM process preferred
