Whether creating new processes or communicating requirements, our clients need someone who can help develop innovative solutions and interact with counterparts in other federal agencies. That’s why we need you, an experienced Operational Action Officer who can provide strategic support and our client’s leadership on issues relating to health R&D, organization structure, and management of breakthrough health technologies.  

As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic technical expert for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), helping conceptualize, create, and execute advanced government-funded research and development programs to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone. You will work with world-class scientists and engineers to support the development of high-impact solutions to society's most challenging health problems and leverage technical expertise to provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support to senior ARPA-H decision makers. You’ll maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating commercialization of successfully developed technologies. 

You'll serve as an Operational Action Officer as part of an exciting team to provide high-level operational and executive support in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Above all, you have a deep commitment to advance health and biomedical research. You will help clients to streamline operations and administrative items, track engagements and deliverables, optimally leverage leadership time, support the broader team, and successfully serve the Agency’s mission. You will provide support to senior leaders, serve as a point of contact for the office and other agency offices, manage incoming requirements, clearly communicate tasks, and track metrics. You will be readily available to shift your focus to fulfill emerging requests and special projects. Your attention to detail, flexibility, strong communication skills, understanding of the international mission, and problem solving will enable our client’s success.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Assist senior leaders in developing, implementing, and tracking strategic priorities and initiatives and prepare briefing materials, presentations, and reports for high-level meetings and engagements.

  • Conduct research and analysis to inform decision-making and policy development and research health industry trends in technology, investments, and innovation, and share with the team.

  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate logistics for internal and external engagement.

  • Track action items, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring timely completion and follow-up.

  • Serve as a liaison between the CMO or Senior Advisor and other ARPA-H teams, government agencies, and external partners.

  • Draft correspondence, talking points, and communications on behalf of the CMO or Senior Advisor and facilitate information flow and ensure alignment across teams and projects.

  • Support outreach and engagement activities with key stakeholders, including federal agencies, academic institutions, and industry partners.

  • Lead or support special projects and initiatives as assigned by the CMO or Senior Advisor and monitor project progress, identify risks, and recommend solutions to overcome obstacles.

  • Interact with other U.S. government officials, partners, academics, private sector, and other executives in various sectors.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment such as government, healthcare, research, or consulting

  • Experience coordinating team efforts, tracking progress, and advising on strategies to achieve organizational goals

  • Ability to conduct thorough research, analyze data and organizational priorities, and generate actionable insights to inform strategic decisions

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with biomedical research, health innovation, or federal health agencies

  • Experience working in a start-up environment

  • Experience engaging a broad range of stakeholders, including U.S. officials and private sector executives

  • Experience supporting ARPA-like programs such as DARPA, IARPA, or APRA-E, U.S. DoD advanced development programs, R&D, or start-up organizations

  • Ability to act with professionalism, discretion, and integrity

  • Ability to be well-organized, detail-oriented, and adept at multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities to meet deadlines

  • Possession of excellent communication skills

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Health Policy, or a related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $55,200.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
