The Opportunity: 

A well-designed network is critical to move data and enable to achieve their missions, but how can an organization make sure their network will fit their current and evolving needs? Crafting the right network, with the right equipment and software, requires a combination of technical skill and careful planning. That’s why we need you, an experienced Global Assessment of Information Technology (GAIT) engineer who knows how to develop the exact network needs. 

As a GAIT engineer on our team, you’ll use your experience in network design and architecture, system interoperability, OSI model, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocol, virtual routing and forwarding to support the nation’s defense and respond to evolving adversaries. You’ll upgrade or develop enterprise-wide infrastructure, troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, analyze current working infrastructures and increase security, reliability, and availability for mission-critical network systems.

You’ll apply your expertise in routing and switching, integration of encryption gear, network design and architecture, system interoperability, IP engineering, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocol, virtual routing, and forwarding as you join our team of problem-solvers to help the DoD evolve and deploy new capabilities and technologies. 

Your knowledge of network protocols, equipment, emerging technology, and configurations will come in handy as you optimize client operations and modernization. Using your experience in Crytographic equipment, cryptography, key management, software and hardware firewalls, Cisco hardware, Palo Alto firewalls, cloud migration, optical infrastructure networking, virtual routing and forwarding, SolarWinds, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to clients on mission-critical projects. Using your technical curiosity and knowledge of industry standards, you’ll make an impact on national security missions.

You Have: 

  • Experience with identifying the baseband networking functions in the tactical formations of the WIN-T network including configuration and the implementation processes and procedures associated with each
  • Experience with assessing, prioritizing, and triaging various network outages or degradation and executing remediation in a quick and resourceful manner
  • Knowledge of the Tactical Network architecture and IP networking and processes
  • Knowledge of NetOps including the setup and troubleshooting of VMware vSphere 6 and various NetOps applications, such as SNMPc, Solarwinds, ORION, Radius, and Cisco ISE TACACS
  • Knowledge of information assurance including the setup, troubleshooting, and configuration of Cisco firewall and IPS configurations, Cisco Security Manager, Palo Alto virtual firewalls, and Palo Alto’s Panorama firewall management tool
  • Knowledge of CNNA Voice and CCNP Voice
  • Ability to set up and operate encryption devices including KG-175A and KG-175D model TACLANEs
  • Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience in a technical position inside a Division, Corps, or echelon about Corps Net Ops or Engineering Team 
  • Knowledge of routing functions including the setup and troubleshooting of Border Gateway Protocol, Open Shortest Path First, Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Network, Multicast, switch technologies, Policy Based Routing, Multi-Protocol Label Switching, MPLS Layer 3 VPN, MPLS Layer 2 VPN, and various SP technologies such as MVPN, LDP, or MP-BGP
  • Bachelor's degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
