Cloud Operations Engineer

The Opportunity:

As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will provide technical expertise to support and assist the AF Intel Community with securing and monitoring cloud environments and responding to incidents in those environments. You will support daily operations in a security operations center where you will apply your knowledge of cloud security. Additionally, you may assist with mentoring and informal on-the-job training (OJT) and technical or process support of other team members.

On our team, you’ll recommend and implement tools and procedures for monitoring and responding to threats and vulnerabilities in cloud-based systems based on your research of the current environment and knowledge of various on-premises, cloud-based, and hybrid resources. You will apply your understanding of the DoD risk management framework (RMF) in the area of audit log monitoring and incident response. Your technical expertise will be vital as you work with customer-facing and internal teams to ensure standards are met with information assurance and security requirements. This is an opportunity to use the latest cloud technologies as you look for ways to secure this mission critical environment. You’ll continue to strengthen your skills in Elastic and cloud security principles while mentoring tomorrow’s cloud security experts. You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience using AWS cloud technologies

  • Experience with Elastic integration

  • Experience with signature creation, including Elastic

  • Experience with CloudTrail Logging, Encryption, and secure configurations

  • Experience with Linux and Bash

  • Experience in working with GitLab

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification

  • Ability to obtain incident responder certification within 3 months of start date

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with GEOAxIS

  • Experience with Terraform

  • Experience with Kubernetes

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure

  • Experience with Microsoft Sentinel

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a technical field preferred and Master’s degree in computer science or a technical field a plus

  • IAT Level III Security certification

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $67,600.00 to $154,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
