FPGA Engineer

Key Role:

Design, develop, and implement real-time digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) devices, primarily but not entirely in support of RF-based applications. Applies advanced consulting skills or extensive technical expertise and full industry knowledge. Develops innovative solutions to complex problems. Works without considerable direction and mentors and may supervise team members.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience utilizing field-programmable gate array (FPGA) development kits and software-defined radio (SDR)

  • Experience designing and implementing real-time digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for radio-frequency (RF) applications

  • Experience with programing hardware description language (VHDL or Verilog)

  • Experience with programming C++ or Python

  • Ability to identify and develop innovative solutions to challenging technical problems in the absence of specific requirements

  • Ability to work in small teams and remotely with minimal supervision

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of experience in Engineering or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience in Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience developing integrated solutions that leverage both the embedded processor and FPGA fabric of Xilinx SoC and RFSoC devices

  • Experience with Electronic Warfare (EW)

  • Experience with position, navigation and timing (PNT) sensors

  • Experience with precise time synchronization and relative position determination 

  • Experience with Software development in a Linux-based development environment

  • Experience building low level software and firmware that interfaces with hardware

  • Experience with designing and conducting experiments using radio-frequency devices and instrumentation

  • Experience with microcontroller targeting ARM, ESP32, and Arduino

  • Knowledge of Kalman filtering or other optimization methods

  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
