The Opportunity:

As a systems security and network security engineer, you can identify the tools needed to assess vulnerabilities and recommend the best solution and security strategy. We need your experience to lead the development and implementation of security solutions that will protect infrastructure.

On our team, you’ll troubleshoot and analyze complex challenges for customers using your knowledge of Splunk. You’ll use your curiosity for technology and market trends to further research and develop security solutions. Using your knowledge and experience in Splunk, you’ll assess security threats and implement infrastructure controls.

What You’ll Work On: 

  • Develop relationships quickly and easily with other teams, communicating the complexities of security with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management. 

  • Implement infrastructure and cyber security controls, including enhanced detection and vulnerability capabilities and improved event correlation in large enterprises.  

  • Perform risk and vulnerability assessments in network, system, and application areas, leverage big data analytics and traditional security event types to identify advanced threats or indicators of compromise.

You Have:   

  • 10+ years of experience with system integration, including the design, development, and enhancement of cyber systems

  • 4+ years of experience with Splunk operations and maintenance

  • Experience with maintaining an event schema using customized security severity criteria

  • Experience with creating scheduled and ad-hoc reporting using Splunk

  • Experience with extraction, transformation, and loading of data, including SPL and Regex

  • Knowledge of SIEM technologies and event collection mechanisms in Windows and Linux operating environments

  • Ability to build and implement event correlation rules, logic, and content in the security information and event management system in the Splunk platform

  • Public Trust

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:   

  • Experience with a cloud-based Splunk deployment

  • Experience with supporting a Security Operation Center’s Splunk deployment

  • Experience as a security engineer or security analyst

  • Ability to tune SIEM event correlation rules and logic to filter out security events associated with known and well established network behavior, known false positives, or known errors

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including, understanding, documenting, communicating, and presenting technical issues in a non-technical manner to audiences with varying degrees of technical expertise

  • Possession of excellent problem-solving skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics

  • Splunk Architect-level Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
