Penetration Tester

Key Role:

Finds possible vulnerabilities while using penetration testing tools and techniques, to ensure security of computer systems, applications, servers, or networks. Applies specific functional knowledge, working knowledge, and industry knowledge. Develops and contributes to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with some guidance. Reviews or guides activities of more junior employees.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with identifying and exploiting vulnerable services using custom or publicly available exploits

  • Experience using a basic scripting language, including Python, Ruby, Perl, or Bash

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking

  • Knowledge of linux and windows system administration

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory basics

  • Knowledge of fundamental computer security concepts and terminology, such as host and network-based firewall, AV/EDR software and common web application vulnerability types

  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences in written reports and presentations

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of experience in Cybersecurity in lieu of a degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with nessus or equivalent vulnerability scanner

  • Experience with burpsuite or equivalent web proxy tool

  • Knowledge of common database management systems

  • OSCP or GPEN Certification

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,300.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
