Public Affairs Outreach Strategist and Planner

The Opportunity:

As a Public Affairs Outreach Strategist and Planner, you know how to inform and engage key audiences and help promote an organization’s desired reputation. We’re looking for an experienced communications specialist like you, who is ready to share your knowledge and willing to win for the client and live our mission every day. Here, you’ll use your consulting skills and experience to design, develop, produce, and consult on a variety of internal and external communication materials and media.

As a Public Affairs Outreach Strategist and Planner on our team, you will provide direct support to meet Department of Defense (DoD) communication goals and objectives achieved through engagements with host-nation publics. You will coordinate, organize, and lead efforts to represent the client at events conducted. You will manage and coordinate the screening, vetting, and approval process of requests for military support by host-nation countries. You will plan and prioritize events and activities that foster strong relations with civilian, government, and military community leaders. You will facilitate news interviews with media representatives and coordinate outreach related public appearances for senior leaders. You will work closely with commands to track activities and gain awareness on projected, planned, and executed outreach activities. You will manage knowledge and information by using planning cycles and process-management systems, and attend planning conferences, meetings, and working groups, as needed.

As the organizational support to all aspects of communications, you’ll oversee and author public affairs written products, including weekly and monthly reports, Outreach-specific assessments, annual Year in Review products, and other deliverables.

Your creative-thinking and business-oriented mindset will help assist your client with project management using tools, such as Microsoft Teams Lists, C2IE, and others, as well as creative support using tools, like Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe, and Canva, and assessments using tools like, Hootsuite, Meltwater, and in-app metrics.

You Have:   

  • 5+ years of experience with strategic communications and planning

  • 5+ years of experience with outreach efforts and public engagements

  • 3+ years of experience with working with the DoD

  • 3+ years of experience with planning at the Component Command, Combatant Command, or Service level

  • Ability to demonstrate a positive team first mentality

  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic and fast-paced team

  • Ability to communication both orally and in writing, including high level client deliverables

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:   

  • Experience with European AOR

  • Experience working in a joint military environment or joint combatant command

  • Ability to interpret assessment data

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or International Relations

Clearance:  

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
