The Opportunity:

As a data engineer, you know that organizing big data can yield pivotal insights when it’s gathered from disparate sources. We need an experienced data engineer like you to help our clients find answers in their big data to impact important missions—from fraud detection to cancer research to national intelligence.
As a big data engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll implement data engineering activities on some of the most mission-driven projects in the industry. You’ll deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful.
Here, you’ll work with and guide a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment. You’ll use your experience in analytical exploration and data examination while you manage the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms for your clients.

You Have:
3+ years of experience with data engineering and data wrangling and building highly scalable ETL or DataOps pipelines
3+ years of experience in relational and dimensional modeling techniques, organizing, and structuring
3+ years of experience in applying principles, best practices, and trade-offs of schema design to various types of database technologies, including relational, columnar, graph, SQL, or NoSQL
1+ years of experience with implementing web services, including SOAP and RESTful APIs using microservices architectures and design patterns
Experience with programming languages, such as Python, SQL, Scala, Java, or UNIX and Linux shell scripting
Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana
Ability to develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats
Ability to work in a big data environment, learn technical concepts quickly, demonstrate technical solutions, standards, and best practices, and communicate and demonstrate with multiple functional groups to include non-technical stakeholders
TS/SCI clearance
HS diploma or GED
Nice If You Have:
Experience working in Agile, DevSecOps teams and environments, including Atlassian tools
Experience with implementing rapid response query solutions on Big Data platforms leveraging Solr, Elasticsearch, or scalable query engine implementations
Experience in implementing batch and real-time big data integration frameworks and applications, in private or public cloud, including AWS or Azure, using various technologies, including Hadoop, Spark, Impala, debugging, identifying performance bottlenecks, and finetuning those frameworks
Knowledge of Zero Trust and how to design data architectures leveraging role-based data access
Knowledge of relational and dimensional modeling techniques
Ability to conduct research on emerging technologies and industry trends independently
Amazon Certified Solutions Architect and Associate Certification
TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
Bachelor’s degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
