Job Description
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an analyst who has a background in the energy sector to tackle a newer concept in the Department of Defense – building electrification. With climate hazards and foreign interference becoming a more apparent problem each day, it places an even greater importance on the reliability and sourcing of resources. Critical facilities dependent on fossil fuels are more prone to utility outages and emitting higher carbon emissions. As an energy analyst, you will be guiding the path towards transitioning typical facility heating and cooling systems to all-electric across DoD installations.
Focusing on infrastructure resilience and climate action, you understand the complexity that comes with implementing innovative technology that can meet advanced climate goals while still achieving the high level of energy resilience that is required at military installations. That knowledge is key in the development of solutions that shift the Department of Defense off the reliance on fossil fuels and toward carbon pollution-free operations. Our next step in this transition targets the complex thermal loads at some of the Department of Defense’s most energy-intensive facilities, for processes and for personnel requirements. We’re looking for an analyst who can work collaboratively to implement new, innovative technology that meets current resilience and climate goals and prepare for future targets.
On our team, you’ll be a part of a new initiative while supporting a Department of Defense energy resilience program. You will analyze federal policies and initiatives regarding electrification and net zero emissions while upholding the DoD's specific installation requirements. You will conduct financial analyses on project construction and planning costs, changes to operations and maintenance, and potential savings associated with building electrification and energy conservation measures. Lastly, you will support the team in a joint effort of researching and recommending market-ready all-electric technologies to work towards DoD facility decarbonization. Work with us and ensure the Department of Defense accomplishes its energy resilience goals through energy independence for our military's critical missions.
Join us. The world can’t wait.
You Have:
4+ years of experience with engineering or analysis in the energy sector
Experience working with electrical, heating, cooling, and water infrastructure
Experience advising and coordinating with federal agencies on DoD requirements and policy
Knowledge of environmental, sustainability, and energy efficiency regulations, executive orders, and consensus standards, especially related to building electrification or deep-energy retrofits
Knowledge of the energy sector and major trends, including microgrids, renewables, building electrification, and climate resilience
Knowledge of life cycle cost assessments and evaluating potential funding streams
Ability to conduct utility bill savings and rate structure analysis
Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Bachelor's degree
Nice If You Have:
Experience with projects incorporating design, evaluation, specification, and implementation of carbon-free energy or electrification projects, including solar photovoltaic, wind, geothermal, hydro, or nuclear
Knowledge of energy auditing, data collection, and proposing energy conservation measures
Knowledge of fuels management, natural gas infrastructure, and mechanical equipment from facility heating systems
Secret clearance
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Certification
Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
