Job Description
Key Role:
Immerse yourself in cutting-edge technologies while serving as a strategic technical consultant to the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) and other energy clients. Create and apply next-generation materials by guiding the design, evaluation, and management of government and private sector sponsored Research and Development (R&D) programs. Help inform our clients about emerging materials technology needs. Engage and collaborate with a diverse group of technology experts to leverage rapidly maturing technology from other sectors to create new materials and materials processing methods that reduce emissions and increase energy systems efficiency. Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences on research pertaining to materials science or materials engineering
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
- Doctorate degree in a Materials Science or Materials Engineering field
Additional Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience with extractive metallurgy, mineral processing, high performance steels and superalloys, refractory metals, or magnetic materials in postdoctoral, academic, or industry roles
- Experience in a consulting or advisory role
- Ability to demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness when dealing with uncertainty and ask insightful questions that challenge traditional thinking
- Possession of excellent organizational, client service, and analytical skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
