The Opportunity:
As an embedded software engineer, you know how to create and maintain crucial pieces of software. You use your knowledge to write and optimize code that creates a bridge between pieces of software, allowing them to communicate. We are seeking a highly experienced senior embedded software engineer with a strong background in defense industries. The ideal candidate will excel in DevOps and CI/CD processes, software architecture design and refactor, and hardware integration. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality embedded software solutions, driving efficiency in development cycles, and overseeing complex testing frameworks.
As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll support the development of systems, sites, and tools for our clients. Using the latest tools and technology, you’ll write, test, and edit code in support of the team’s overall results. You’ll expand your skills as you develop and reverse engineer software that supports hardware functionality on a wide range of devices and configures solutions based on the platform being used. You’ll work with other team leaders to troubleshoot and correct operational issues, as well as with cybersecurity specialists to ensure that the software you’re creating is secure.

You Have:
- 10+ years of experience with embedded software engineering in the defense industry
- 8+ years of experience with embedded C++ software development hardware-software integration
- 8+ years of experience implementing and managing automated pipelines using tools such as CMake, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
- 8+ years of experience writing Python and bash scripts
- 5+ years of experience leading Agile teams as a Scrum Master, with a track record of delivering embedded software products through iterative development cycles
- Experience designing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, unit testing, and system integration testing for embedded systems
- Experience in containerized environments, including Docker or Kubernetes, and package managers such as Conan or Spack for managing software dependencies in embedded systems
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience in software engineering, or 13+ years of experience in software engineering in lieu of a degree
Nice If You Have:
- Experience leading initiatives to decompose monolithic repositories and automate release cycles for embedded systems
- Ability to work closely with systems engineers, hardware teams, simulation specialists, and product management to develop cohesive solutions for complex embedded systems
- Master’s degree
- Agile Scrum Master Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
