Network Operations Center Engineer

Key Role:

Monitor and maintain mission-critical systems, enterprise services, and networking infrastructure across multiple physical sites and disparate networks. Serve as the Tier III support to escalate and resolve technical issues on operational network environments. Support problem management resolutions by tracking system-wide problems on operational networks and work with engineering support, including network engineering, systems engineering, catapult operations, and desktop engineering, to see problem troubleshooting through to resolution. Support the operation and maintenance of critical Windows and Linux systems to maintain operational availability and an excellent security posture through system configuration and patching or STIGs maintenance. Conduct firewall changes, create or troubleshoot F5 iRules, create and modify DNS entries, manage port security, and provide real-time monitoring of network systems and computer assets through SolarWinds. Log all incidents, requests, questions, tasks, and projects in BMC Remedy, apply thorough diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes, recommend solutions on the operational mission infrastructure, create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all troubleshooting procedures, and move or replace IT equipment to support office moves, new system requirements, and malfunctioning devices, as necessary. This position requires shift work, Thursday Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with IT systems administration
  • Experience with Windows server administration
  • Experience with Active Directory and networking monitoring
  • Knowledge of DoD IT security requirements, including installing patches or conducting STIG reviews such as YUM, Puppet, SCCM, or WSUS
  • Ability to use, develop, and enhance the IT troubleshooting process
  • Ability to analyze and refine standard operating procedures
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • HS diploma or GED
  • Ability to obtain a Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA Security, or GSEC Certification within 30 days of start date

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with systems and service monitoring tools, including SolarWinds and Splunk
  • Experience with basic network administration, including port security and configuration, firewall management, F5 support, and DNS management
  • Experience managing enterprise applications, including Microsoft Exchange, Jira, Microsoft SCCM or MECM, and Skype for Business
  • Experience using BMC Remedy for ticket queue maintenance and ticket tracking
  • Experience with virtualization, including VMware and VDI
  • Experience managing AD and Group Policy
  • Knowledge of vulnerability and STIG scanning tools, including Nessus, SCC Tool, ACAS, and Tanium
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
