Job Description
Key Role:
Assist in the development and management of operational neuroscience and human performance optimization research programs for the DoD. Draw on deep technical knowledge and subject matter expertise to advise clients in areas, such as human cognition and computational architectures to facilitate effective human-human (H-H) and human-machine teaming (HMT). Utilize strong technical writing skills and the ability to communicate complex scientific ideas to broad audiences in the development and management high-risk, high-reward projects that seek revolutionary change beyond the state-of-the-art. Serve as a strategic technical consultant for an advanced government-funded research and development agency, building and managing programs that help revolutionize the world. Work with world-class scientists and engineers for a DoD client to impact national security investments through the development of cutting-edge technologies and leveraging technical expertise to provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support to senior DoD decision-makers. Maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with research in neurology, cognitive neuroscience, human-centered artificial intelligence, or human systems integration
Experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to explain and present complex scientific concepts to a broad audience
Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Doctorate degree
Additional Qualifications:
2+ years of experience with postdoctoral academic or industrial research
Experience with human-machine teaming, human-autonomy teaming and integration, team and social cognition, human-centered AI, complex systems, computational models, behavioral modeling, and advanced statistical modeling
Experience with technical project or program management
Ability to display multiple first-author contributions to peer-reviewed papers or patents
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
Secret clearance
Doctorate degree in Applied Neuroscience, Applied Cognitive Science, Applied AI and Cognitive Systems, Human Factors, or Human Systems Engineering

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $67,700.00 to $154,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
