International Affairs Specialist

Key Role:

Provide International Affairs (IA) subject matter expertise (SME) support to the client. Serve as a skilled cartographer of the global political landscape, mapping out the intricate terrain of international relations, conducting in-depth research, and gathering important information about the nations and issues within the client's Areas of Responsibility (AORs) from open and classified sources. Manage, support, and track partner engagements and operations, activities, and investments (OAIs) while interfacing with Component Field Command, the Air Force, and other agency international affairs organizations to examine and interpret the complex interplay between geography, politics, economics, and culture on a global scale. Analyze the current issues and historical background around international crisis events, forecast potential scenarios and outcomes, identify the U.S. policy position on those outcomes, identify the expected international or regional response, and outline the foreign policy implications. Be responsible for planning, coordinating visit engagements, and supporting visits and future plans with senior military or civilian entities across a spectrum of cultures, including creating relevant playbooks for each visit, as well as ensuring engagements are focused on key issues that support Combatant Command (COCOM) Campaign Plans. Analyze information on political systems or domestic politics, economy, foreign policy, and defense or security positions of nations and international organizations within the area of responsibility, then synthesize this information into multi-media products or presentations for general officer consumption.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in military or government international affair or political-military planning

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and military-specific planning software such as C2IE or MAVEN

  • Knowledge of European and African political and military affairs

  • Knowledge of U.S. foreign policy objectives, international security organizations such as the UN or NATO, and relevant treaties or agreements and security policy

  • Knowledge in International Affairs and Security Cooperation programs, processes, and procedures

  • Ability to travel throughout Europe, Africa, and the U.S. up to 25% of the time

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with IA in the EUCOM-AFRICOM AORs

  • Experience working at a Major Command, preferably in the EUCOM or AFRICOM AORs

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, or Foreign Policy

  • Completion of DSCU Foundations of Capability Development Course

  • Completion of DSCU Foundations of Political-Military Activity Course

  • Completion of DSCU Foundations of Security Cooperation Course

  • Completion of DSCU Foundations of Technology Security, Foreign Disclosure, and End-Use Controls Course

  • Completion of DSCU Foundational Policy and Resourcing Course

  • DSCU Certification Security Cooperation Organization - Practitioner Level Certification

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
