Advanced Data Scientist

The Opportunity:

As a data scientist, you’re excited at the prospect of unlocking the secrets held by a data set, and you’re fascinated by the possibilities presented by IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. In an increasingly connected world, massive amounts of structured and unstructured data open new opportunities. As a data scientist at Booz Allen, you can help turn these complex data sets into useful information to solve global challenges. We are looking for someone with a strong STEM background who is eager to learn and grow in their role.

The DoD space is looking for individuals with exceptional mathematical modeling backgrounds who have done outstanding work utilizing highly quantitative techniques characteristic of disciplines such as physics and the hard sciences. For example, our offices are leading efforts related to optimization of logistics planning and we would love for you to bring expertise or interest in operations research-related optimization problems. Moreover, we work on problem sets more broadly that involve Generative AI, autonomy, and R&D so you will be exposed to a wide variety of modeling aspects. We are looking for someone who is creative and excited about solving problems from a variety of angles!

You’ll work closely with clients to understand their questions and needs and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You’ll play a key role in the development of algorithms and systems. You’ll use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to advise your clients as they make informed decisions. Ultimately, you’ll provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • Experience in complex mathematical modeling such as AI/ML, simulations, or data mining
  • Experience working in academic STEM research areas, and working with impactful industry-oriented data science and quantitative analysis or modeling
  • Experience with mathematics such as linear algebra, vector calculus, and optimization
  • Experience utilizing Python for mathematical modeling and data work leveraging standard libraries such as NumPy, pandas, Matplotlib, and scikit-learn
  • Experience working with code as a programmer
  • Ability to break down complex problems into tractable programmatic and mathematical pieces that can be effectively solved in an organized and efficient manner
  • Secret clearance
  • Master’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or CS field

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with distributed data and computing tools such as Spark, MapReduce, and Hadoop
  • Experience working with cloud-based environments such as AWS
  • Experience with Generative AI techniques, including LLMs and AI Agents
  • Experience with Reinforcement Learning
  • Experience with evolutionary and genetic algorithms
  • Experience solving optimization problems from an operations research perspective such as linear or nonlinear programming and constraint programming
  • Experience with parallel computing techniques such as multithreading or multiprocessing for producing highly efficient code
  • Experience writing production-level code for maximum efficiency, speed, and reliability

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
