Whether serving as an expert on policy issues or developing strategies to guide cutting-edge innovation to not simply comply, but to drive ethical standards, we need someone to advise our clients on leading approaches to responsible innovation and provide high-quality support.
As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic technical specialist for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), helping conceptualize, create, and execute advanced government-funded research and development programs to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone. You’ll work with world-class scientists and engineers to support the development of high-impact solutions to society's most challenging health problems. You will leverage technical expertise to provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support to senior ARPA-H decision makers. You’ll maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating commercialization of successfully developed technologies.
You'll serve as an experienced senior Responsible Innovation Advisor in Health and Biomedicine, helping drive sustained and effective attention to these issues across the research lifecycle community. Your attention to detail, flexibility, communication skills, understanding of our client’s mission, and problem-solving will enable the mission’s success. This position is a Hybrid role with Booz Allen. Candidate is expected to work on-site at a Booz Allen or Client Facility 20-50% of your time, as needed.
What You’ll Work On:
Support the design and establishment of responsible innovation strategies within ARPA-H research programs and projects to drive health outcomes.
Facilitate engagement across ARPA-H offices on ethical, legal, and social issues coupled with health innovation and provide research support on technical, policy, social science, and other areas.
Provide subject matter expertise in one or more domain of responsible innovation in health, including clinical bioethics, governance of frontier technologies, or privacy and data rights, and serve as a liaison to connect ARPA-H staff with other leading experts.
Support agency responses to policy implementation related to responsible innovation.
Support the design of mechanisms to facilitate responsible innovation implementation within programs such as through contracting and agreements.

You Have:
10+ years of experience advising and developing responsible innovation approaches in R&D environments
Experience with government R&D and science and technology environments
Experience in a domain of responsible innovation in health and biomedicine such as clinical bioethics, governance of frontier technologies, privacy and data rights, or liability
Ability to read and understand technical approaches to product development, including in the areas of science, engineering, or product strategy
Bachelor’s degree
Nice If You Have:
Experience in a government R&D agency such as ARPA-H, DARPA, BARDA, or similar
Ability to demonstrate creativity, foresight, professionalism, and mature judgement in anticipating and solving program management problems
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams and independently
Ability to manage multiple short- and long-term projects effectively
Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
Possession of excellent organizational and communication skills
Doctorate degree in a technical scientific field

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $69,400.00 to $158,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
