Telecommunications Engineer

That’s why we need you, an experienced telecommunications engineer who knows how to develop the exact network our customer needs. 

 

As a telecommunications engineer on our team, you’ll use your experience in telecommunications systems design, implementation, and sustainment to support the nation’s defense and respond to evolving adversaries. You’ll deploy your expertise in fiber optic communications, switched networks, network management, and network control systems, and increase security, reliability, and availability for mission-critical network systems.  

 

You’ll apply your expertise in telecommunication systems design, implementation, service provisioning, and sustainment as you join our team of problem-solvers to help our customers evolve and deploy new capabilities and technologies.

You Have: 

  • 12+ years of experience with telecommunication systems

  • Experience with performing professional engineering assignments to support telecommunication systems design, implementation, service provisioning, and sustainment

  • Experience with engineering artifacts such as Engineering Design Packages (EDP), As-Builts, Circuit Layout Records (CLR), wavelength service modeling

  • Experience with developing system availability analysis

  • Experience with diagramming network topologies using Microsoft Visio

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, fiber optic communications, switched networks, network management, and network control systems

  • Ability to have effective discussions with colleagues, clients, and vendors

  • TS/SCI clearance 

  • HS diploma or GED

  • Ability to obtain BICSI Certification within one year of hire date

 

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience with circuit-based transport solutions to include Ethernet and G.709

  • Experience with design and implementation of optical telecommunications systems, including OADM, ROADM, and OLA

  • Experience with reviewing configuration management and tracking System hardware and software life cycle

  • Experience with developing Analysis of Alternative (AoA), Project Course of Action, weighting, and rating scales

  • Experience in capturing system technology refresh requirements

  • Experience working in a Program Management Office and performing vendor oversight

  • Experience leading projects and interfacing with senior clients and vendors

  • Knowledge of system data, control, and management planes

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
