Digital Engineer, Lead

Key Role:

Provide leadership, innovation, and skilled technical guidance in the design, development, and management of digital engineering solutions utilizing model-based systems engineering (MBSE). Provide engineering technical direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical objectives. Remain current with industry practices and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts, combining digital engineering practices with other leading-edge industry concepts. Work directly with team members, leads, customers, and suppliers to ensure safety and security are at the forefront of every product. Evaluate and modernize how our clients go about linking digital tools and techniques with system engineering, fostering a new way of product development. Develop and utilize a cross-disciplinary digital engineering ecosystem to develop customer products, while helping customers through their digital transformation journey. Help bring new business to the firm by providing technical input on proposals for how Booz Allen will meet client needs. Lead cradle-to-grave digital engineering projects from planning to product delivery, and guide team members and subcontractors throughout the process. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience architecting solutions from user requirements and use cases to be applied across a system engineering lifecycle

  • 5+ years of experience with systems engineering or MBSE

  • 4+ years of experience supporting the design, development, and review of systems engineering design artifacts

  • 2+ years of experience using requirements management tools, such as IBM DOORS NG or Jama Connect, and using MBSE tools, such as MagicDraw/Cameo, IBM Rhapsody, or Sparx EA

  • Experience defining a digital engineering ecosystem, including the underlining infrastructure, tool selection, process development, and utilization

  • Experience with the practical application of Unified Modeling Language (UML) or Systems Modeling Language (SysML)

  • Knowledge of core systems and digital engineering concepts regarding the use of engineering models across the lifecycle, authoritative lifecycle data, tool chains, digital threads, and digital twins

  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, dynamic team environment, including internal staff, external contractors, and government clients, to increase the use of MBSE for client acquisitions programs, perform multiple systems engineering and program management functions in support of product design development and reviews, identify and manage technical risks, develop technical reports, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement recommended solutions

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with conceptualizing military problems, decomposing high-level missions systems modeling, and developing detailed designs in a systems model to support product development

  • Experience developing safety critical applications based on standards, such as ARP-4754, ARP-4761, DO-178, DO-254, and MIL-STD-882

  • Experience with leading a team for development of technical specifications, interface control documents, and integration and test plans and schedules

  • Experience with supporting engineering tools, including PLM/PDM, such as TeamCenter or Windchill, digital engineering, such as SBE Vision or Syndeia, modeling and simulation, such as ModelCenter or Dassault 3DS, and CAD, such as SolidWorks or CATIA

  • Experience with using modeling frameworks DoDAF or UAF

  • Knowledge of linking analytical and engineering tools in a digital thread

  • Knowledge of modular open systems approach (MOSA) design principles and technologies, The Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) Approach, DoD architecture standards and framework, and Agile systems engineering methods and tools

  • Knowledge of systems engineering standards, including IEEE 15288.1 and IEEE 15288.2

  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certifications, including ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP

  • OMG Certified Systems Modelling Professional (OCSMP) certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $96,600.00 to $220,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
