SatCom RF Engineer

Key Role:

Supports the development of architectural blueprints for new networks and enhancements to production networks. Applies advanced consulting skills or extensive technical expertise; full industry knowledge. Develops innovative solutions to complex problems. Works without considerable direction and mentors and supervises team members, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in communication system development, satellite ground segment, or system integration
  • Experience in performing system trade studies, performing requirements analysis, interface management and documentation, and development and implementation of verification and validation plans and procedures
  • Knowledge of digital network communications and RF signal theory, digital satellite network architectures, IP networking
  • Knowledge of VSAT networks and platforms and TCP/IP protocol suite and network protocols - unicast/multicast, VoIP, IPsec, or QoS
  • Knowledge of the specifications and differences between various satellite frequency bands - L, C, or Ku-band and the qualities of on each signal band in various applications
  • Knowledge of well-developed systems engineering and decision-making expertise
  • Ability to develop and integrate into operational systems various satellite communications subsystems, including the RF, baseband, and ground network equipment elements
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • HS diploma or GED and 12 years of experience with SATCOM or Network Engineering, Associate's degree and 10 years of experience with SATCOM or Network Engineering, Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience with SATCOM or Network Engineering, Master's degree and 6 years of experience with SATCOM or Network Engineering, or Doctorate degree and 4 years of experience with SATCOM or Network Engineering

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in Windows, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and utilize problem-solving abilities under pressure
  • Ability to learn new communications technologies quickly and apply as needed to resolve problems

Clearance:
