Safety Specialist

Key Role:

Provide occupational safety and health subject matter expertise in a variety of operational areas. Develop, manage, and implement safety and health programs, training, and guidance. Act as a standalone entity and provide guidance to other staff within the organization. Evaluate work situations and provide field consultations to identified safety concerns, identify issues, and present solutions. Ensure and audit compliance with best practices and local, state, and federal safety and health regulations and laws. Maintain site and organizational safety and health records and provide routine reporting. Maintain flexibility in work environments and be willing to support diverse locations and unique operations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience with safety, health programs and training
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations, laws, and best practices
  • Ability to provide expert guidance as an independent contributor
  • Ability to serve as a subject matter expert on safety compliance issues affecting Government facilities
  • Ability to draft policy statements, standard operating procedures, fact sheets, newsletter articles and other communications regarding current and future safety regulations affecting the Government
  • Ability to develop or review applicable safety compliance and management plans
  • Ability to provide technical safety regulatory assistance and guidance to facilitate compliance with local, state and federal regulations, and executive orders
  • Ability to develop and conduct safety training for Government employees and contractors
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph required
  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with industrial hygiene practices and sampling
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of client and mission partners
  • Certification as a Certified Safety Professional or Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
