Joint Exercise Planner, Senior

Key Role:

Maintain responsibility for applying knowledge of how to organize diverse groups to build shared comprehension of complex challenges, facilitate collective problem solving, analysis, and implementation of new solutions and best practices. Work with a diverse client base to monitor and review systematic activities implemented in an organizational system so that mission support fulfills product or service requirements. Meet client shifting priorities of effort and provide action officer level support, developing Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) events, including the development of the Five-Year Exercise Overview, Preliminary Planning, Site Surveys, and Concept Development through Exercise Execution. Work with the training audience to develop Training Objectives associated with Operational and Contingency Plans, Mission Essential Tasks, and Unit Readiness tasks within the Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS). Develop schedules, coordinate venues, and provide updates throughout planning on the end-to-end Concept of Operation (CONOP). Write Orders, Executive Summaries, and After Action Reviews when required. Facilitate training exercises, including development of personnel tracking for participation and cost estimate for all other logistical support. This position will require travel domestically and internationally to serve our clients and attend exercise events.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with military exercises at the battalion, brigade, or division level

  • 5+ years of experience with military planning at the battalion, brigade, or division level

  • Knowledge of Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) process, policy, and doctrine

  • Ability to use MS Office Suite programs, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS up to 20% annually

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience planning and executing Joint Exercise Program (JEP) or 10+ years of experience planning and executing Joint Exercise Program (JEP) in lieu of degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Combat Arms Operations or Division

  • Experience in Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations (NEO) planning and execution

  • Knowledge of Bi-Lateral and Uni-Lateral Exercises

  • Ability to take an exercise from the concept phase, plan the exercise, prepare and provide senior-level concept of operation brief

  • Ability to assist in the development of exercise Joint Manning Document (JMD) and Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS)

  • Ability to conduct After Action Review (AAR) with the exercise training audience and submit closeout reports

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Master's degree
