SatCom RF Engineer

Key Role:

Support the development of architectural blueprints for new networks and enhancements to production networks. Apply advanced consulting skills or extensive technical expertise; full industry knowledge. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Work without considerable direction; mentor and supervise team members, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of communication system development

  • Knowledge of satellite ground segment and system integration

  • Knowledge of capacity management and systems engineering

  • Knowledge of digital network communications and RF signal theory, digital satellite network architectures, IP networking

  • Knowledge of VSAT networks and platforms as well as TCP/IP protocol suite and network protocols - unicast/multicast, VoIP, IPsec, QoS

  • Knowledge of the specifications and differences between various satellite frequency bands L, C, or Ku-band and the qualities of on each signal band in various applications

  • Knowledge of systems engineering and decision-making expertise

  • Ability to develop and integrate into operational systems various satellite communications subsystems, including the RF, baseband, and ground network equipment elements

  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

  • HS Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience with SatCom RF, Associate's degree and 8 years of experience with SatCom RF, Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience with SatCom RF, Master's degree and 4 years of experience with SatCom RF, or Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience with SatCom RF

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of critical vs non-critical requirements

  • Knowledge of system trade studies

  • Ability to present complex issues in clearly written language

  • Ability to use diagrams, tables, or figures to improve the presentation of technical material, and the acumen to ensure key business issues are addressed consistent with the organization’s goals and objectives

  • Ability to analyze complex situations and utilize problem-solving abilities, under pressure

  • Ability to learn new communications technologies quickly and apply as needed to resolve problems

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.
