Strategic Communications Analyst, Mid

Key Role:

Provide planning and communications support to a US military international training academy client, including strategic communications planning, program development, identification of digital communication methods, materials development, media relations, campaign evaluations, and stakeholder outreach. Support strategic discussions and problem solving, communications planning, integration, and implementation of media and digital strategies to increase awareness, mitigate risks to training and education programs, and usage of client resources and materials. Perform baseline assessments and social media analyses, design communication approaches, develop information, themes, and messages, and conduct analyses of implemented communication plans, messages, materials, and program strategies that support strategic communication objectives and reach diverse audiences. Support stakeholder management and outreach efforts with US inter-agency and foreign security forces. Evaluate plans, document lessons learned, and make recommendations for current and emergent strategic communications issues, as needed. Collaborate with subject matter experts across US and foreign academia and security force structures to bring best practices to the institution. Facilitate course delivery, execution, and assessment. This position may require travel to European and MENA regions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience with social media, journalism, public affairs, organizational communication, or strategic communications in DoD, Department of State (DoS), or partner nation organizations 
  • Experience with conceptualizing and creating print, audio, video, or multi-media products
  • Experience with the analysis, preparation, and presentation of data to leadership
  • Knowledge of formal USAF and DoD staffing and coordination processes
  • Knowledge of stakeholder outreach, communications, organizational communications planning, or higher education alumni management
  • Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to clients’ communications challenges and problems
  • Ability to be a self-starter, work independently and as part of a team, manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, analyze complex data, and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to travel throughout the European and MENA region of responsibility
  • Active Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with producing public affairs, external communication products, including videos, updates, photo products, and news articles
  • Experience with DoD security cooperation or security assistance programs, including policy and program management
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and executing events with foreign security forces personnel
  • Experience with software applications, including Canvas Learning Management System and Microsoft SharePoint and Project
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience in coordinating with Combatant Command and Service component headquarters staffs
  • Knowledge of DoD training and education processes
  • Knowledge of strategic and gap analysis planning
  • Knowledge of the principles of social marketing, organizational behavior changes, change management, or stakeholder engagement
  • Knowledge of US Embassy organization and process, including coordination activities with the Department of State and US embassies
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal skills
  • Possession of oral, and written communication skills
  • Top Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree in Communications, International Relations, Foreign Policy, or Education preferred; MA or MS degree in Communications a plus
