Defensive Cyberspace Operations Planner

Key Role:

Conduct deliberate and contingency cyberspace operations planning utilizing military decision making process (MDMP) and the Joint Operations Planning Process (JOPP). Support plan development, validation, coordination, and integration in conjunction with higher headquarters, components, DoD, USG Interagency, and other stakeholders. Review and provide input to strategic and operational plans, contingency plans, operations orders, execution orders, fragmentary orders, strategic operational analysis reports, strategic and operational policy reports, DoD directives and guidance, and other documentation supporting strategic operations research, analysis, and policy development. Provide support for and develop input to theater campaign order (TCO) and combatant command campaign plan (CCP). Support Joint Planning Groups (JPGs) and Operational Planning Teams (OPTs) representing cyberspace planning equities and conduct continuous coordination with stakeholder organizations to determine cyberspace operations planning requirements. Support and coordinate Cyber Protection Team (CPT) mission efforts. Conduct and validate research and analysis; prepare information papers, decision papers, and briefings to inform Government leadership; and plan, attend, and execute planning workshops or conferences.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience as a joint operational planner at a CCMD, Joint Staff, or a Major Service HQ
  • Knowledge of Strategic-level Joint Planning Process (JPP)
  • Ability to produce written reports, deliver oral briefings, and facilitate meetings with senior military staff
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Completion of specialized education in Military Joint Operation Planning through the Joint Professional Military Education Phase I (JPME I), or The Joint Information Officer Planning Course (JIOPC)

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Strategic-level cyberspace operations (CO) or defensive cyberspace operations (DCO) planner
  • Experience with the Global Force Management (GFM) process, Cyberspace Forces Mission Alignment Process (CFMAP), and Mission Assurance program
  • Master’s degree
  • Completion of the Joint Cyberspace Operations Planners Course (JCOPC)
  • Completion of JPME II
