Open Source Researcher/Team Lead

Key Role:

Work as an open source researcher, using cutting-edge open source research techniques, including social media exploitation and Big Data exploitation to provide support to a Combatant Command in the areas of Force Protection (FP), Indications and Warning (I&W), Counterintelligence (CI), all-source intelligence integration, anticipatory intelligence, media monitoring, and information assessments and operations across the client command and staff as it relates to client theater priorities and primary security threats. Work in a fast-paced, challenging environment to produce quick-turn, high quality products and dive into areas of client interest to evaluate networks rigorously and discover trends. Serve as a subject-matter expert. Lead the planning and implementation of large programs and interface regularly with senior management and executive leadership. Provide advice and counsel in the area of expertise. Monitor multiple products’ progress and status from inception through final dissemination. Provide work leadership for junior employees.

Basic Qualifications:

-8+ years of experience with DoD or equivalent government agencies

-2+ years of experience with conducting open source intelligence research or social media research

-Knowledge of DoD and IC classification guidance and tradecraft as it applies to open source and social media (OS/SM)

-Knowledge of Internet-based research, including Boolean logic, search engines, database resources, and Internet sources, such as social media, social networking tools, and commercial and industry-based databases

-Ability to show completion of the DLPT in the Russian language with a minimum 2/2 in reading and listening

-Ability to direct subordinate analysts effectively

-Ability to ramp up quickly on a range of topics, including geopolitical dynamics and cultural studies

-Ability to produce deliverables in a short time frame using Microsoft Office

-Active TS/SCI clearance

-BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with performing link analysis or trend identification to ascertain linkages and patterns, including crisis activity, incidents, and defense operations in a professional or academic environment

-Experience with research in a foreign language and international-focused Web sites

-Experience with advanced search techniques, information databases, and data visualization

-Knowledge of the EUCOM area of operations and combatant command structure

-Possession of excellent briefing skills

-MA or MS degree in International Affairs, Geography, Political Science, Linguistics, Business, Library Science, or another research-related field

-Completion of one or more courses through an approved government agency in Open Search and Social Media Research and Analysis or completion of privately sponsored courses, including Cyber Advanced Support Operations (CASO), Cyberspace Open Source Methods and Operations (COSMO), or Open Source Intelligence Techniques
