Public Affairs Communication Planner

Key Role:
Provide direct support to meet Combatant Command strategic-level and operational-level exercise objectives. Apply knowledge of formal operations, military planning, or exercise design to develop communication plans across the communication life cycle, including conceptualization, brainstorming, stakeholder and client engagement, and final product development. Participate in and support public affairs planning for Combatant Command and component exercises. Plan and schedule for key milestones related to the exercise schedule. Attend exercise planning conferences, meetings, and working groups, as required. Analyze, coordinate, and execute communication strategies and plans that synchronize public affairs efforts across the theater. Contribute to the public affairs assessment process through applying lessons learned and open source research data to the communication planning process. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with working in the DoD as a military, civilian, or contractor in a Joint or combined HQ, major command, or higher headquarters

-2+ years of experience with planning at the Component Command, Combatant Command, or Service level

-2+ years of experience with strategic communication

-Knowledge of Joint staffing functions and actions

-Ability to be a highly flexible self-starter and operate in a high-tempo environment under less than ideal time-management conditions
-Ability to manage planning efforts for multiple events simultaneously

-Ability to travel up to 25% of the time required

-Secret clearance required

-BA or BS degree

-Completion of Defense Information School (DINFOS) Public Affairs Training

Additional Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with Adaptive Planning and Execution (APEX) or Joint Planning Process (JPP)

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Possession of excellent research and organizational skills

-Active TS/SCI clearance

-BA or BS degree in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field preferred; MA or MS degree in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations, or a related field a plus

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
