SATCOM and RF Engineer

Key Role:

Develop and integrate into operational systems various satellite communications subsystems, including the RF, baseband, and ground network equipment elements. Support the development of architectural blueprints for new networks and enhancements to production networks. Apply advanced consulting skills, extensive technical expertise, and full industry knowledge. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Work without considerable direction. Mentor and supervise team members, as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in communication system development, satellite ground segment, or system integration
  • Experience in capacity management or systems engineering
  • Knowledge of digital network communications and RF signal theory, digital satellite network architectures, or IP networking
  • Knowledge of VSAT networks, platforms, and TCP/IP protocol suite and network protocols, including unicast, multicast, VoIP, IPsec, or QoS
  • Knowledge on the specifications and differences between various satellite frequency bands, including L, C, or Ku-band and the qualities of on each signal band in various applications
  • Ability to use diagrams, tables, or figures to improve the presentation of technical material
  • Ability to ensure key business issues are addressed consistent with the organization's goals and objectives
  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
  • HS Diploma or GED and 6+ years of experience with Network Administration, Associate's degree and 4+ years of experience with Network Administration, or Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience with Network Administration
  • DoD 8570 IAT II or IAM II Certification

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of critical vs non-critical requirements
  • Knowledge of system trade studies
  • Ability to present complex issues in clearly written language
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and utilize problem-solving abilities, under pressure
  • Ability to learn new communications technologies quickly and apply as needed to resolve problems
  • Master’s degree
