Future Plans Assessment Analyst, Mid

Key Role:

Organize and support staff sections in developing Performance Evaluation Checklists (PECL), evaluate the performance in exercises, ensure associated data is reflected in Marine Corps Training Information Management System (MCTIMS) and Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS), and develop task performance observations, training proficiency evaluations, and after action reports. Reference the Joint Training Program, Campaign Plans, Relevant Lessons Learned and Advise and assist in assessment of capability across the exercise program against capabilities required by Combatant Command, including crisis response force capability in the form of Joint Task Force, Maritime Prepositioning Forces (MPF), Alert Contingency Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF), Alert Contingency MAGTF (ACM), and Operational Plans (OPLANS). Provide input to Joint Exercise Program (JEP) and Service Exercise Program (SEP) design and training objectives that correlate to Mission Essential Tasks (MET) achievement. Collect task performance observations that measure achievement, ultimately building toward Joint Task Force (JTF) Operational Capability Assessment (OCA) and other training events and mission rehearsals. Identify qualitative and quantitative indicators that enhance operational readiness and warfighting capability across all warfighting functions and apply value-added assessment practices to staff functions in order provide threshold analysis of capabilities. Develop Operational Assessments that enable the measurement of progress and results of operation or exercises and support the development of conclusions and recommendation support the decision-making process. Facilitate the development of an assessment framework that improves planning, supports decision-making, increases resource management, and is used as a mean to motivate.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with PACOM Area of Operations (AOR) operations and planning
  • 2+ years of experience in planning, preparation, and coordination with adjacent components and Higher Headquarter Commands
  • Experience with program or project management principals, process improvement, and mission planning
  • Knowledge of the Marine Corps and Joint Planning Process, policy development, and exercise development and Marine Air- Ground Task Force structure and employment
  • Knowledge of National Strategic Strategy, National Military Defense Strategy, Unit Training Management, and Systems Approach to Training
  • Knowledgeable of DoD networks for information gathering, to include NIPR and SIPR
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex data analysis topics to senior leaders and their respective staffs
  • Ability to advise leadership on means to achieve the above objectives within Commanding General guidance and priorities as they relate to operational tempo and fiscal constraints
  • Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree


Additional Qualifications:

  • U.S. Marine Corps formal schooling in Marine Corps Operations
  • Graduate of School of Advances Warfighting
