Business Email Compromise Analyst

Key Role:

Display professional and expert knowledge of incident response processes, tools, and techniques. Collect, analyze and present digital-related evidence in support of Business Email Compromise (BEC) investigations. Apply specific functional knowledge; working/general industry knowledge. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance; and make significant contributions to any incident response efforts. Provide written or verbal updates to clients.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with the collection and analysis of Microsoft 365 (M365) data, including Unified Audit Logs, Mailbox Audit Logs, and Azure logs to determine the scope of an M365 compromise

  • Experience with the analysis of Microsoft Exchange on premises logs, including Internet Information Services (IIS) to determine the scope of an Exchange email compromise

  • Experience with the collection and analysis of Google Workspace logs, including Admin logs, OAUTH logs, Google Drive logsto determine the scope of a Google Workspace compromise

  • Experience with scripted BEC toolsets written in Python or PowerShell

  • Knowledge of common forensic artifacts analyzed during an investigation in order to determine access methods, data accessed, and data exfiltration

  • Ability to correlate events from multiple sources to create a timeline analysis

  • Ability to organize case notes and communicate verbally and in writing to clients

  • Ability to prepare detailed technical reports

  • Ability to work after standard business hours, including some evenings, some weekend and some holidays, take a rotation on call, and work more than one incident at a time

  • HS diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with email header analysis

  • Experience with the collection and analysis of other email platforms, other than M365, Microsoft Exchange and Google Workspace

  • Experience with forensically analyzing cloud data, including AWS, Azure, or GCP

  • Experience in scripting with PowerShell or Python

  • Experience with digital forensic tools, including EnCase, FTK Axiom, Splunk, Elk Stack, and open-source applications

  • Ability to prioritize work assignments without guidance

  • DFIR or Cyber Security Certification, including CCE, EnCE, CFCE, CISSP, CISM, GCIA, GCFE, GCFA, GREM, or GNFA

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $67,700.00 to $154,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
