Event Planner and Communications Specialist

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a fully cleared, experienced event planner and communications specialist who can take initiative, work independently, and get things done with minimal direction for an Intelligence Community client. In this individual contributor role, you’ll shape and nurture relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients to ensure events come together like clockwork and the workforce is kept informed of initiatives and successes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who likes to wear multiple hats, pays attention to all the details, excels at managing multiple moving parts simultaneously, and thrives in an environment where no two days are the same.

You will use your creative thinking and organizational skills to plan and execute at least five events per year with approximately 50 - 100 attendees per event. Each event involves managing logistics for the venue, refreshments, and photographer, coordinating with external stakeholders to secure a keynote speaker and other guest presenters, managing the run-of-show during the event, publicizing the event to the client's workforce with announcements and posters, and following up with an after-action review that identifies process improvements for future events. You will take initiative to ensure every event is a success, keeping the client informed of your progress throughout the planning process.

In addition to advertising the client's events, you'll perform other ad hoc communications functions, including drafting HR-related content, managing website content, including creating new content and ensuring existing content is kept up to date, writing articles about success stories or other topics as they come up, and producing a monthly newsletter. Your strong writing skills and understanding of how to engage and motivate audiences will help earn the client's trust and advance their mission.

You will partner with the client's employee resource groups to coordinate unique one-off learning opportunities for the workforce, such as visits to specific historical sites within a few hours of Washington, DC. In this instance, you will build the relationships and help identify the opportunities, while the resource groups will do the bulk of the planning.

Work with us as we design, develop, and produce flawless events and compelling communications to change the Intelligence Community for the better.
