Public Communication and Media Analyst

The Opportunity:

In this role, you'll track, analyze, and synthesize media content and coverage across global platforms to create actionable insights for US European Command leadership. You'll navigate a broad range of traditional and social media sources to identify key narratives, trends, and sentiment that impact the USEUCOM theater as well as related Combatant Commands. You'll apply strong attention to detail, coordinates with cross-functional teams, and has a high aptitude to deliver clear, concise analysis tailored to executive-level stakeholders. You'll use digital technology and methods to capture, visualize, and analyze data for command-level briefs.

What You'll Do:

  • Track and analyze a full range of global media sources, including top-tier international, national, and regional outlets, including print, online, and broadcast
  • Utilize media monitoring software and advanced search techniques to track keywords and topics aligned with leadership’s priorities, ongoing operations, and areas of concern
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of global media to develop narrative summaries, primarily in EXSUM format, covering relevant media trends impacting the USEUCOM theater as well as other COCOMs
  • Coordinate and deconflict briefing topics with key command stakeholders to ensure holistic briefings and avoid duplication or conflicting narratives
  • Develop and refine written briefing scripts, incorporating text from selected media reports and providing additional context for clarity
  • Ensure all briefing materials (PPT/PDF slides, scripts) are uploaded to the ECPA Workshop in Maven Smart Systems (MSS) and SharePoint Online for continuity and wide accessibility 
  • Assess the positive, negative, or neutral tone of daily media coverage
  • Identify primary narratives across media outlets and social platforms, determining alignment or divergence from Command messaging
  • Deliver actionable insights based on narrative and tone analysis to support decision-making 
  • Provide executive summaries describing the media environment, either daily or focused on specific events and topics
  • Deliver ad hoc media clips and assessments based on on-demand requirements, as directed by the ECPA Chief and Media Operations Branch Chief
  • Support integration of Media Operations activities and other equities into MSS platforms

You Have: 

  • 7+ years of experience in the communication field
  • Experience in media monitoring, sentiment analysis, and narrative tracking, including in a government, military, or operational environment
  • Experience in media monitoring software, tools, and search techniques
  • Experience with using Microsoft suite products and MSS platforms
  • Ability to distill complex media narratives into concise executive-level deliverables
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and coordinate across organizational hierarchies
  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive and be responsive in a dynamic environment
  • Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Journalism, Communications, International Relations, or Political Science field

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience with military operations, security priorities, and the USEUCOM theater of operations a plus
  • Experience delivering briefs or presentations at the executive-command level
  • Knowledge of MSS
  • Knowledge of strategic communication and military public affairs operations
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and briefing skills
  • Possession of excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Master's degree

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,500.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
