Explosives Safety Engineer

The Challenge:

You understand your customer’s environment and assist in the development of insensitive munitions. Your knowledge in military munitions would make you an integral part of a Navy program. 
 

As a safety engineer on our team, you will develop and apply systems engineering methods, theories, explosives safety analyses, and risk management expertise of insensitive munitions (IM), DoD Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) requirements, and weapons system programs development to seek compliance with MIL-STD-882E throughout all program life cycle phases.  Manage DoDM 6055.09M and internationally compliant explosives safety requirements and program evaluations for CONUS and OCONUS military installations and operations. Participate in the update and maintenance of DoD IM, system safety, and acquisition documents.  Conduct analyses and management skills to assess the implementation and impact of IM, ESOH, systems safety, and explosives safety on the warfighter’s safety and mission success by participating in activities, including DoD and Service integrated product teams (IPTs) and working groups.

You Have:

-5+ years of experience with IM, explosives safety, or systems safety engineering and risk management

-Knowledge of the DoD acquisition process for IM, explosives, and systems safety

-Ability to analyze, research, assess, and organize technical data into cohesive and clear technical reports and presentations

-Ability to work independently or as part of a team preparing reports and presentations

-Ability to organize, schedule, and facilitate technical meetings and working groups

-Active Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree

Nice If You Have:

-Experience with the DoD Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) and explosives safety policy for military operations and installations

-Ability to think strategically and understand the tactical details of the issue

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Certified Safety Professional Certification

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.
