Your data science knowledge and consulting expertise, coupled with an original approach to your work, will help clients and stakeholders make sense of their data and encourage actionable results. We’re looking for someone like you to steer complex data exploration and analytics projects through your experience with R, R Shiny application development, statistical analysis, and data processing for climate science applications in the DoD.


As an advanced data scientist and researcher on our Artificial Intelligence team, you’ll learn and apply innovative AI, machine learning, and data science methodologies to make a real-world impact on enabling climate resilience and preparedness for the nation’s infrastructure. You’ll grow your skills in data science, predictive modeling, and AI and shape the future of analytics through a variety of means like peer-reviewed papers and major conference presentations.

Whether you’re using AI to provide better services to engineers and planners or building public tools to analyze projected climate impacts, you’ll collaborate with a team that serves critical missions from end to end.

You Have:  

  • 3+ years of experience with R-Shiny application development

  • 3+ years of experience with using R or Python for statistical analysis, optimization, or analytical methods

  • Experience with building, testing, and presenting mathematical models to facilitate client decision making

  • Experience with data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, or data mining

  • Experience with working in a team environment for application development

  • Knowledge of Git, QA/QC of data processing workstreams, and feature testing

  • Ability to research new methods to improve client mission, communicate findings to the team or client, and implement high-quality deliverables

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:  

  • Experience in developing front end applications using React

  • Experience with developing solutions leveraging DevSecOps and CI/CD best practices

  • Experience with Docker deployment

  • Experience with using UNIX, Linux, distributed systems, or cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, or GovCloud

  • Experience with handling and conversion of multiple spatial and non-spatial data sources

  • Possession of excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks

  • Possession of excellent critical thinking skills to assess numbers, trends, and data to reach new conclusions based on findings

  • Possession of excellent quantitative skills, including statistical analysis, time series analysis, or optimization

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
