Network Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Analyze local and wide area network (LAN/WAN) systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites, and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices. Resolve interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, and teleconferencing. Manage internetworking of various operating systems, including windows NT/95 and UNIX, across both LAN/WAN. Monitor performance and stability of networks. Configure systems to user environments. Support acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience supporting the Automated Digital Network (ADNS) architecture for shipboard networking, including installation, configuring, integration of interfaces, and troubleshooting

-5+ years of experience with communications links for ADNS including, Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Super High Frequency (SHF), or Extremely High Frequency (EHF) systems

-Experience working with Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) programs beyond ADNS related to shipboard or shore networks or terminals

-Knowledge of the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process and information assurance (IA) requirements related to shipboard networking

-Secret clearance

-AA or AS degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience working with Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) and Integrated Shipboard Network System (ISNS) preferred

-Experience supporting shipboard network help desks a plus

-Knowledge of Navy Multiband Terminals (NMTs) preferred

-BA or BS degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) preferred

-Networking or IA certifications, including CompTIA Network+ or Security+
