Software Standards Engineer, Mid

Key Role:

Develop software standards for DoD communications systems that adhere to industry-leading principles of openness and that provide robust interfaces. Apply specific functional and industry knowledge to design, align, and promulgate standards related to open systems architecture (OSA). Collaborate with development teams, architects, and interface designers to successfully implement and maintain standards. Work independently with some guidance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with DoD communications systems related software standards focused on open system architecture and interface design

  • 2+ years of experience with supporting DoD communication systems, including C4ISR and EW Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS), Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA), Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE), Vehicular Integration for C4ISR and EW Interoperability (VICTORY), Modular Open Radio Frequency Architecture (MORA), REDHAWK Integrated Development Environment (IDE), Open Missions System (OMS), or Software Communications Architecture (SCA) and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)

  • 2+ years of experience with developing and documenting internal standards for open system architecture and interfaces, ensuring alignment to industry best practices

  • 2+ years of experience in collaborating closely with software architects, developers, project managers, and interface designers to comprehend project requirements and constraints

  • Experience with advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of industry-standard principles for open systems and interface best practices

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment to ensure effective application of open system architecture principles and interface design standards

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with developing and delivering training programs to educate development teams on open system architecture and interface standards

  • Experience with ensuring team accessibility to documentation of open system architecture and interface standards for seamless integration into the development workflow

  • Experience in collaborating with conformance verification teams to ensure that testing processes align with open system architecture and interface design standards

  • Ability to deliver detail-oriented solutions with a strong commitment to quality

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Top Secret clearance

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $52,100.00 to $119,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
