Data Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Support modernization of complex, mission critical applications by conducting detailed analysis of underlying data framework. Create the vision and chart the transformation to the new platform by establishing the conceptual data, logical data, model design, and interface design. Integrate solutions with broader technology architecture used across the organization while influencing enterprise architecture to meet the needs of the future. Maintain the perspective of the client organization, mapping the systems and interfaces used to manage data, setting standards for data management, analyzing the current state and conceiving preferred future state, and articulating projects needed to close the gap between the current state and future goals. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in data modeling and database design, from conceptualization to database optimization

  • Experience with the design of complex Information Technology solutions involving multiple software applications, processing platforms, and integration software 

  • Experience with the design and implementation of enterprise-level data access platforms

  • Experience with enterprise-level data migration design and implementation from legacy repositories including DB2 or Oracle, and modernized repositories including PostgreSQL or MarkLogic

  • Knowledge of the system development life cycle, including software project management approaches, requirements, design, and test techniques

  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases, including MarkLogic or MongoDB

  • Knowledge of established and emerging data technologies, including in columnar and NoSQL databases, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture and Data Modelling tools

  • Experience in working with the Internal Revenue Service

  • Experience with leading a project, task, or team

  • Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • API Design, Data Mappings, OOAD, and Interface Control Documents certification

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.

Colorado: $88,500 - $184,900 (annualized USD)

New York (including New York City): $94,000 - $226,000 (annualized USD)
