Key Role:
Provide support to the submarine ship design manager (SDM) and the hull and mechanical major area integration team (MAIT) lead and work with prime contractors and various Navy departments and organizations. Work with system integration team (SIT) leads, construction group personnel, ship design agents, naval support facilities, including Naval Warfare Centers, and other Navy stakeholders in efforts to complete the design, integration, and construction of various submarine systems. Facilitate timely decisions in the review and adjudication of all design products and written correspondence by the appropriate technical stakeholders, Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), and Navy field activities in accordance with ship specifications to meet commitment completion dates and construction deadlines. Interface with stakeholders to review and generate Navy client letters and packages for official release. Establish and manage structures, welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), and materials commitments as the subject matter expert. Track and report status of commitments. Attend periodic commitment meetings and other meetings and provide status updates and briefs to program office management, as necessary.
Basic Qualifications:
-5+ years of experience working with submarine structures, welding, non-destructive testing, or material properties of Navy submarine materials
-Experience with Navy submarine systems, processes, or materials, including structural design and analysis, non-destructive testing, welding processes, fabrication and repair of ferrous and non-ferrous metallic materials, and machinery and piping materials
-Knowledge of Navy material specifications, including Navy-adopted commercial specifications and standards, such as NAVSEA Technical Publication T9074-AD-GIB-010/1688 or NAVSEA Technical Publication S9074-AR-GIB-010/278
-Knowledge of Navy design specifications, including DDS 110-2 or submarine design specifications
-Ability to comprehend and succinctly summarize, communicate, and document complex technical issues
-Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
-Ability to use a variety of software products, including Microsoft Office Suite, and information systems
-Active Secret clearance
-BA or BS degree in Engineering
Additional Qualifications:
-Knowledge of Navy shipboard and submarine systems and DOD acquisition programs, preferred
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
Clearance:
