Key Role:

Designs, fabricates, modifies and evaluates complicated and difficult mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems. Prepares design specifications, analyses and recommendations for presentation and approval, maintains technical responsibility for planning, organizing and conducting technical projects or phases of projects involving design and development of new or improved product or processes, and investigates solutions to product or process problems. Consolidates results of mechanical design elements for assigned projects and coordinates the efforts of drafters, designers, engineering technicians and machine shop personnel as required by assigned projects. Conducts independent technical investigations involving the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications and requirements. Develops and applies advanced mechanical engineering design methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems. Plans, conducts, and evaluates projects and major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of engineers and technical support staff. Analyzes, evaluates, and plans methods of approach and organize the means to achieve solutions for complex technical problems. Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity and reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. Recommends corrections in technical applications and analyses. Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products and services and provides technical consultation to other organizations and work leadership for junior employees.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with engineering

  • 5+ years of experience with developing preliminary and detailed designs, including modeling, simulation, and design validation or verification testing

  • Ability to plan and design tools, engines, machines, and mechanically functioning equipment

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with DoD and Navy policies and processes

  • Experience with developing and reviewing technical drawings and drawing packages

  • Experience with creating technical reports and documentation for military or aerospace projects, including airworthiness reports

  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a larger, multidisciplinary team

  • Ability to work on a variety of military platforms

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
