Privacy and Cybersecurity Analyst

Key Role:

Serve as a Cybersecurity and privacy analyst for a DoD client and implement data analysis tools that meet privacy and security regulatory requirements and DoD standards. Assist with evaluating Privacy Act and HIPAA standards along with Cybersecurity standards. Provide guidance in applying Cybersecurity and privacy standards, best practices, and mitigation strategies. Evaluate and support the documentation, validation, assessment, and accreditation processes necessary to ensure that information technology (IT) systems meet the organization’s information assurance (IA) and security requirements. Participate in the definition of organizations’ state and risk thresholds and analyze actual state information to assess compliance. Work with agency leaders to codify strategic Cyber objectives into doctrine, policies, and procedures that can help meet defined objectives. Evaluate computer applications, software, and specialized utility programs to determine if software assurance best practices are followed and maintain compliance of custom-built software against stated security policies using code-scanning approaches.

Basic Qualifications:

-3 years of experience applying and implementing HIPAA Privacy regulations

-2 years of experience with NIST Special Publication 800-53--Security and privacy controls for federal information systems and organizations

-Experience in researching complex privacy and security issues and applying critical thinking skills towards developing recommendations

-Experience in developing business or technical requirements

-Knowledge of the NIST 800-53 Appendix J controls

-Knowledge of the DoD Authority to Operate process and the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF)

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree

-CISSP, CISM, or CIS Certification

Additional Qualifications:

-Knowledge of federal privacy and Cybersecurity-related laws, including HIPAA, FISMA, Privacy Act of 1974, and E-Government Act

-Possession of excellent consulting skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
