Software Analyst, Junior

Are you looking for an opportunity to provide strategic thought and task execution in the areas of software development practice, methodologies, tools, metrics and data analysis? As a Junior Software Analyst, you will be responsible for suggesting, assessing and organizing the task elements within an a focus area within a larger SW engineering team with an understanding of the nature of how the efforts and products affect the advancement of digitally based tools and techniques.  You will work as part of a broader team responsible for establishing, maintaining, and propagating state-of-the-art software engineering practices for the DoD. Team activities include:

  • Organizing communities of practice that connect the engineering community to solve cross-cutting engineering challenges
  • Creating and using engineering guidance and standards that propagate best practices that are essential for warfighting success
  • Providing engineering expertise to support the DoD in areas of Systems Engineering, Modular Open Systems Approaches, Digital Engineering, Modeling and Simulation, Software Engineering, and various Specialty Engineering disciplines.

As a software analyst on our team, you’ll be part of a team of Engineers and Analysts helping to overcome the most difficult challenges using the latest architectural approaches to the client, DoD Acquisition and Sustainment (A&S) Program Managers, and Chief Developmental Software Engineers in the development of comprehensive software strategies throughout the acquisition life cycle. You’ll use your passion to adopt new tools and techniques, and mentor your team as you identify and implement system improvements. You’ll analyze the needs and the environment to ensure solutions developed consider the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements. Responsibilities include developing engineering best practices, performing software engineering technical assessments and the development and analysis of software metrics and database curation. You'll coordinate across DoD organizations and other agencies to ensure comprehensive and efficient overall software modernization strategies while supporting Agile methodologies and DevSecOps initiatives.

You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience in software development
  • Knowledge of software development activities across all phases of the SW development life cycle as well as modern tool sets
  • Ability to be responsible for collaboration and support both within the Software task area and across the engineering team
  • Ability to perform self-directed efforts
  • Ability to perform research for additional insight
  • Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

  • BA or BS degree in field supporting Software Engineering
