Biomedical Automation and Engineering Consultant

The Challenge:

We're looking for a skilled biologist/subject matter expert to help drive advancements at the intersection of biomedical automation and manufacturing to support research programs for the DoD. As a senior scientist/engineer, you understand the challenges in medical device automation, system miniaturization and integration, and are familiar with therapeutic manufacturing facilities and best practices. Candidates should have strong technical writing skills and the ability to communicate complex scientific ideas to broad audiences along with an understanding of biology, robotics, and engineering. That experience and knowledge is key when it comes to supporting high-risk, high-reward projects that seek revolutionary change beyond the state-of-the-art.

As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic technical consultant for advanced government-funded research and development program building programs that help revolutionize the world. You’ll work with world-class scientists and engineers for a DoD client to impact national security investments through the development of cutting-edge technologies. You’ll leverage technical expertise to provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support to senior DoD decision makers. You’ll maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders. This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working at a Booz Allen office or client site and working remotely.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience with graduate research in automation engineering, robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or chemical engineering
  • Experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to explain and present complex scientific concepts to a broad audience
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Doctorate degree

Nice If You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience with postdoctoral work
  • Experience with infectious diseases, medical devices, device robotics, system miniaturization/integration, software engineering for manufacturing systems and vaccine manufacturing facilities
  • Experience with therapeutic drug manufacturing processes and best practices
  • Experience with development of medical devices and hands on research
  • Experience with DoD research and development projects
  • Experience with technical project or program management
  • Experience in a client-facing work environment
  • Ability to display multiple first author contributions to peer-reviewed papers or patents
  • Secret clearance
  • Doctorate degree in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, or Physiology
