Infectious Disease Epidemiology Consultant

Key Role:

Work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment to assist with technical program management of research and development (R&D) efforts for a DoD client. Draw on deep technical subject matter expertise to advise clients within areas that include microbiology, molecular biology, and epidemiology with a focus on predictive modeling for disease transmission and zoonotic diseases, development of point of care diagnostic applications or assays as sensors for surveillance efforts, or innovating and implementing epidemiological surveillance activities. Work as part of a core scientific team, including providing strategic assessments of novel scientific discoveries and emerging technologies as they relate to a larger client portfolio. Assist with the technical program management of innovative high risk and high reward research efforts, and communicate technical concepts to a broad range of technical backgrounds effectively.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with research pertaining to infectious diseases, microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, or epidemiology, including time as a graduate student

-5+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for both technical and non-technical audiences

-Experience with multiple first-author contributions in peer-reviewed papers or patents

-Ability to explain and present complex scientific concepts to a broad audience

-Ability to commute to Arlington, VA

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-PhD degree required

Additional Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with post–doctoral or industry work

-Experience with scientific writing for a broad audience, including research scientists to non–technical managers

-Experience with disease surveillance, point of care diagnostic assay development, regulatory affairs, of clinical trial design a plus

-Experience with science and technology policy

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
