Mechanical Engineering Consultant

Key Role:

Support the development of material and design co-optimization frameworks for enhanced structural components and systems. Provide strategic assessments of new technologies in support of senior decision-makers while conducting background research in evaluating the feasibility and the defense applications of new technological concepts. Produce and present findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients, assist with program ideation and technical program management, and brief materials out for government R&D efforts. Work with world-class scientists in driving forward groundbreaking research efforts developing new frameworks for intelligent material selection for a given design space, leveraging advanced simulation tools, nascent material properties, and data analysis techniques.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with solid mechanics research or structural analysis using finite element methods (FEM)
  • 2+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Doctorate degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with material and design optimization
  • Experience with applying advanced design and data techniques to materials science and mechanical design problems
  • Experience with defense research and development
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possession of excellent organization and client service skills
  • Doctorate degree in ME, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Ceramics Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $58,400.00 to $133,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
