Molecular Virology Consultant

Key Role:

Work in a fast–paced, highly collaborative environment to assist with technical program management of research and development (R&D) efforts. Leverage deep technical knowledge to serve as a subject matter expert within multiple areas of virology, including biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, and molecular genetics while working with world-class scientists to support the management of high risk and high reward research efforts. Provide strategic assessments of new scientific discoveries and emerging technologies, contribute to the development of new scientific concepts, and help to develop technology program plans as part of a collaborative technical team. This position is located in Arlington, VA.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with research in virology with a particular emphasis in the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, or genetics, including time as a graduate student

-5+ years of experience with authoring technical papers, reports, or program plans for both technical and non-technical audiences

- Knowledge of the molecular processes involved in viral infection and transmission, including viral and host interactions, molecular genetics, biochemistry and biophysics, and molecular biology

-Ability to show multiple first-author contributions to peer-reviewed papers or patents

-Ability to explain and present complex scientific concepts to a broad audience

-Ability to commute to Arlington, VA

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-PhD degree

Additional Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with postdoctoral academic or industrial research

-Experience in working with government agencies, including the DoD

-Experience with science and technology policies

-Experience with the design or development of diagnostics or medical countermeasures combating viral agents of concern to Public Health

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills, including scientific writing
