Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) Specialist, Lead

Key Role:

Apply expertise to guide a team in analyzing ports, protocols, and services (PPS) that determine our cyber compliance. Oversee staff working on the assessment of your client's current PPSM policies, the coverage of those policies, and areas of risks. Assess how PPSM requests stack up to regulations, best practices, and industry standards, guide your client through understanding acceptable risk and availability, and lead the team on the execution of PPS registry requests, DMZ Whitelist requests, and Firewall requests. Work with the client to ensure they operate securely as they navigate an evolving IT environment. Monitor customer program registrations in the PPSM Registry for PPSM discrepancies and support the client program and the PPSM TAG Representative through the PPSM resolution process, including processing PPSM Component Local Service Assessments (CLSA), Further Action (FA) requests, Non-Standard Boundary and Port Exception requests, and Banned Services Exception requests. Secure critical infrastructure by using the Category Assurance List (CAL) as the authoritative source for ports, protocols, services, network environments, and boundary combinations. Assess vulnerabilities and appropriate implementation strategies for use of protocols, services, and their associated ports, perform technical reviews of new and existing PPSM, and provide assessments for boundary protection improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in a professional work environment

  • 3+ years of experience with PPSM

  • 3+ years of experience with demonstrating aggregate involvement in the implementation of the use of IP protocols, applications, systems, and data services

  • Secret clearance

  • BA or BS degree

  • 8570/8140 IAM level 1 Certification or higher

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and seeing the completion of circuit accreditation packages

  • Experience with eMASS

  • Experience with hands-on networking administration of boundaries and firewalls

  • Experience with configuration management within RMF

  • Knowledge of registering PPS in the PPSM Central Registry and processing all PPSM requests according to IAW DoD Instruction 8551.1

  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer engagement and management skills

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • TS/SCI clearance
