Research Project Scientist and Engineer

Key Role:

Leverage expertise across the Research and Development (R&D) program planning life cycle in the areas of ground, maritime, space, and air systems. Solve, and report future Consult R&D and science and technology (S&T) organizations on the best-of-class and enterprise mandated and prescribed policies, processes, and procedures to define, develop, acquire, and field prototype systems or knowledge product and services to satisfy stakeholder needs, including R&D sponsors, S&T constituents, and end users. Apply expertise in the particular field of specialization to the analysis of new or proposed S&T efforts. Cross fields, as needed, and consult on the application of strategies and processes across a logical grouping of programs to ensure strategic alignment with agency objectives and reduce investment overlaps. Leverage expertise across the S&T domain and within the R&D enterprise and comprehend emerging technologies, industry challenges, and best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with performing detailed technical analyses in the areas of ground, maritime, space, or air systems
  • Experience with providing assessments of new ideas for physical consistency, military utility, technology risk, and cost impacts
  • Ability to translate complex technical ideas and issues into easily comprehensible, clear, and concise briefings
  • Ability to assess and analyze in detail complex technical problems; functioning as a hands-on SME
  • Top Secret clearance
  • BA or BS degree and 10 years of experience with detailed technical analysis in the field of physics or engineering, MA or MS degree and 5 years of experience with detailed technical analysis in of physics or engineering, or PhD in Physics or Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with providing support to senior-level government officials, including SES
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple clients 
  • Ability to commute daily to Arlington, VA
  • TS/SCI clearance preferred

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required.
