Senior Operations Research Analyst and Data Scientist

The Opportunity: 

On our multi-disciplinary team, you’ll apply analytic techniques including optimization, simulation, machine learning, statistical analysis, data engineering, and multi-objective decision analysis to deliver innovative solutions and inform military leadership decisions. You’ll be working closely with the customer and functional area experts to understand their requirements and data-rich environment, then using your experience to provide insights and recommendations to help guide the Marine Corps’ investment strategy and lifecycle management of its facilities and infrastructure portfolio.

You’ll work in a collaborative environment to develop and deploy models and simulations, construct and automate data pipelines, prepare visualizations, and analyze large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data to help develop cutting edge capabilities and address pressing issues for the Marine Corps.

You Have:   

  • Experience coding in R and using Python, SQL, and Git
  • Experience developing and applying simulation and optimization models
  • Experience conducting data analysis on complex sets of quantitative data
  • Experience developing reports and visualizations that summarize data sets and provide data-driven insights
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, and diverse environment
  • Ability to work on client site in the National Capital Region
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, CS, Industrial Engineering, or Data Science

Nice If You Have:   

  • 5+ years of experience in operations research, applied mathematics, computer science, or data science
  • Experience within the DoD, preferably the Marine Corps
  • Experience using Databricks and Apache Spark to conduct analysis
  • Experience developing visualizations and dashboards using Qlik, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Experience applying an Agile approach to analysis and product development
  • Experience building client relationships, developing requirements to inform analyses, and presenting results to stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Master’s degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, CS, Industrial Engineering, or Data Science
