Cyber Automation Engineer

The Opportunity: 

Are you searching for a position where you can use your scripting skills to automatically configure systems? Automation Engineers are confronted with many cybersecurity challenges including limited resources. To manage that complexity, you need to automate tasks to not only effectively meet program objectives but also to ensure the repeatability of automation engineer actions. That’s why we need you, an automation engineer, who can help ensure success through reliable scripting techniques. 

On our team, you will perform system automation functions to include the design, implementation, and testing of developed system scripts in support of an enterprise system in the Federal mission space for a client seeking to hardness data and implement automation at scale. You will review security process artifacts, including process flows, policies, and SOPs to identify areas for automation or implement AI. You will perform gap analyses on these process artifacts and work with the client to develop an implementation plan that remediates or mitigates these gaps.  You will work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify areas of development and execute those using tools, including Bash. The real power of system automation is performing automation engineering activities to meet cybersecurity standards through a repeatable and auditable approach.

You have: 

  • 5+ years of experience with API programming, testing, and integration
  • 4+ years of experience with Python and Bash scripting
  • 4+ years of experience with GitHub, Actions, Jenkins, or Terraform
  • Experience with Azure or AWS  
  • Experience with Serverless Compute Functions
  • Experience in building fault-tolerant or high availability for automation or orchestration
  • Experience with BPMN
  • Knowledge of ITSM, NIST, and FISMA 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements 
  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have: 

  • Experience with Linux, including RHEL-based
  • Experience with developing DevSecOps pipelines and integrations 
  • Experience with GRC tooling, including Archer, ServiceNow, or PowerBI
  • Experience with ServiceNow integrations 
  • Experience with automating application security testing, assessment, and validation  
  • Experience with containerization, OpenShift, and K8s  
  • Experience with database and data analytics, including SQL and R
  • Experience with web application development, including Flask, Django, or Java
  • Knowledge of the OSI Model and enterprise network architecture 
  • OSCP Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
