HL7 Analyst, Mid

Key Role:

Work with internal and external data exchange partners, including hospitals and their software vendors, on setting up secure messaging using national standards, and validation of HL7 messages. Leverage industry standard interface protocols, including HL7 or XML to analyze the creation of analysis templates, design and data mapping specifications, test plans, and training plans. Enhance information systems to enable the receipt and use of standards-based messages, including HL7 electronic health record (ELR) or HL7 clinical document architecture (CDA) from EHRs, potentially using integration engine software such as Rhapsody or Mirth in addition to modifying information systems. Assist with outreach and recruitment of partners relating to the federal EHR incentive program's Meaningful Use objectives. Assist with the maintenance of integration infrastructure, including routine support, upgrades, problem diagnosis, and performance tuning. Provide expert 508 compliance testing and expert testing of systems developed using HL7 standards.

Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with public health informatics, computer science, business analysis, or quality control

-Experience with the clinical healthcare environment, including public health reporting and surveillance

-Experience with a commercial integration engine product, including Cloverleaf or Rhapsody

-Experience with HL7 analysis, development, troubleshooting, and maintenance

-Experience with SQL in a Microsoft or Oracle environment

-Knowledge of the testing life cycle, including accessioning, resulting, and report comparison

-Knowledge of HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards, emerging system integration technologies, and analysis, design, programming, training, and implementation planning

-Knowledge of standard coding for health information exchange, including Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC), Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED), or International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision (ICD-9)

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BS or BA degree

Additional Qualifications:

-BS degree in Public Health Informatics, CS, or IT
